There’s still plenty for Celtic to compete in for this season as the reigning Scottish champions look to complete a domestic treble once again, as well as compete in the Europa League competition.

However, planning for the future, Celtic should never stop for any successful football club and as such, the Hoops’ scout team should already be making move for some possible new signings that could be made in the summer.

Whilst fans are hoping to see Celtic splash the cash, the fact is that the club has never really shown a willingness to do so or ability to compete with some of Europe’s top clubs in terms of transfer spending.

However, despite this, Celtic can still bring in good players to help the club in competing for European silverware if they work things right. One way they will have to do this is by looking at free agent players. Celtic have used this method in the past and they should use it again.

Football Weeks have taken a look at some players who will be out of contract this summer who we think would make logical targets for the champions:

YOHAN CABAYE

The Crystal Palace may be 32-years-old but Cabaye is still a very good midfielder. The France international is technically sound but has a bit of poor performances in him too, which sounds perfect for a Brendan Rodgers side.

ABEL HERNANDEZ

The Hull City striker has missed pretty much the whole season with an Achilles injury. However, Abel Hernandez, when fit, he was a very good striker. The chances are that Celtic will need to be replacing Moussa Dembele in the summer and whilst the Hull striker isn’t quite at the France under-21 international level, he’d still score a lot of goals in Scotland.

KI SUNG-YUENG

Without much ado, fans doesn’t need a much reminder on how technically Ki Sung-Yueng is. The South-Korean international impressed a lot during his spell at the Parkhead and aged 20, the Swansea CM still has a lot football left ahead of him.
