Jozo Simunovic is set for a return to the squad this weekend when Celtic welcomes Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup.
Coach assistant manager Chris Davies revealed the centre-back will be in action for the first-team duties after he missed out on the 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday.
Davies also delivered update on a number of other players by admtting they’re close to match fitness, including new signing Marvin Compper.
He said:
“Jozo missed the match at the weekend but he will be fine.
“We just didn’t risk him on the pitch there.”
“We have one or two others, including Compper, who is back in training and we hope to see one or two other faces coming back in.”
Davies, however, warned it may be some time yet before £1million January signing Compper is handed his debut.
“But these are guys who haven’t had a lot of minutes on the training pitch, so we have to make sure they get their fitness up in terms of training before we look at the games.”
Bosnian international Simunovic’s comeback will be welcomed for Brendan Rodgers with the return of centre-back pairing Dedryck Boyata and Kristoffer Ajer, both of whom were injured against Kilmarnock, still unknown.
Davies told the Celtic View: “They are getting looked at medically, getting scanned and everything else to let us know exactly what is wrong and we will know in the next few days hopefully.”
