Chelsea expected to appoint former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to replace Antonio Conte.

Chelsea don’t seem to be in serious trouble in the Premier League top-flight. The Blues doesn’t seem to buy the either of the club seating at six points off second place, which in turn sees Antonio Conte in trouble.

Reports about Conte’s exit have been gathering momentum as Chelsea were maulled by Watford by a score of 4-1 at Vicarage Road. The defending Premier League champions suffered another defeat just days before losing 3-0 to AFC Bournemouth.

Chelsea like pretty much every other Premier League, are way off of Manchester City by 19 points and things don’t sit well for those at Stamford Bridge.

Additionally, Chelsea were only able to capture three of their linked targets in the transfer market. Ross Barkley from Everton and Olivier Giroud from Arsenal, while Edin Dzeko still ply his trade in Italy with AS Roma.

All these recent woes have been cause of headache for Conte right in the hot seat, despite the ex-Juventus boss winning the Premier League in his first season with Chelsea.

There are reports that some fans want the usual suspects in Diego Simeone or Luis Enrique, but this publication suggested a return to England for Brendan Rodgers.

Chelsea fans were quick to share their opinions on the Hoops boss via social media, and while a fan said:

“we need Brendan Rodgers back at the Bridge”, another said “Brendan Rodgers would be a decent shout”.

Of course, Rodgers spent time in England with Liverpool a few years back, but he also managed the Chelsea reserve team earlier in his career.

His current side have taken a bit of dip in form recently with a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock, but Celtic still continue their reign at the top of the table. The reigning Scottish champions look very well odds-on for another treble winning this season, which has been achieved by the genius of Rodgers.

We all know how dangerous the rumor mill is, but this report is really less than a rumor. Chelsea fans are throwing everything they have in the water for no reason; Chelsea are still in the top four of the EPL.

Celtic fans however, won’t be taking the click-bait from this recent report, and Rodgers will continue to work at what could be another season finished with an array of silverware.

The Celts host Partick Thistle in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on the 10th of February.

How long do you think Rodgers will continue to reign at Celtic? Any chance of the boss returning to England? Let us know in the comments section below.
