Huddersfield Town - Premier League

Premier League’s fight for survival is getting hotter as the season progresses but Huddersfield Town seems to be lagging behind in the race.

The Terriers have changed manager on three different occasions this season but their form hasn’t fared any better as they are currently on eight-match losing streak — their worst record since their promotion to the country’s top flight League in 2017.

David Wagner, who brought the team from Championship, was shown the exit door due to his ability to win more than two games after 21 matches.

His assistant Mark Hudson was hired as caretaker but he only lasted one week at the helm of affairs as he was fired after his team’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

New permanent manager Jan Siewert is far from providing solution to Huddersfield’s problem and they continue to record defeats with wide goal-margin.

The latest defeat was at Stamford Bridge where they were whitewashed 5-0 by inconsistent Maurizio Sarri’s men (Chelsea)

Can Jan Siewert bring his side out of relegation zone?

Considering the recent form of their fellow struggles, avoiding relegation would be a huge task for Jan Siewert.

This is because other teams are beginning to wake up from their slumbers and are putting up match-winning performances.

Fulham, who were in the last position some weeks ago, are six points above Huddersfield despite winning two from their last six fixtures.

18th-placed Cardiff City have 22 points, 11 points ahead of Siewert’s men, and they’re two points away from leaving the relegation zone.

With the huge difference between Huddersfield and their competitors, Jan Siewert have a whole lot of work to do. He must introduce a mentality to his team so as to help the psychological aspect of his players.

Huddersfield have conceded 46 goals this term, hence, it is important the manager finds an urgent but lasting solution to his defensive setup.

As long as they concede lesser goals, the Terriers stand a better chance of avoiding the drop in May.

The team also need an inspirational striker who will provide more spark at the final third of the pitch.

Centre-forward Karlan Grant was signed from Charlton Athletics last month as they seek to bolster their attacking threat, but the English youngster is yet to hit the ground running.

It’s looking more like the Terriers are destined to return back to Championship next season, but, a great run of results is all they need to avoid relegation
