Higuain

Chelsea’s new signing Gonzalo Higuain is the rave of the moment following his brace against Huddersfield.

It took the former Real Madrid striker just 16 minutes to score the first goal of the night, thereby opening his goalscoring account for the West London outfits.

He scored his second of the encounter via a thunderous 25-yard shot that flew pass Jonas Lössl into the back of the net.

Helping the team to a 5-0 win is a commendable achievement for the winter signing, however, it is too early to sing his praise.

Considering the fact that he’s played three games with the team, Chelsea fans must wake up to the truth that Higuain hasn’t done enough to earn their praise.

In his first game for the Blues, Higuain was a second half substitute against Sheffield Wednesday and he couldn’t find the back of net.

He had just two shots which were off target, however, the Blues ended up scoring three goals without conceding.

Last week, the Argentine made his Premier League debut but it was one to forget as he sparingly touched the ball throughout his stay on the field of play.

The 31-year-old, who was named in the starting by Maurizio Sarri, created no goalscoring chance for his teammates. He had no shot on goal while he completed just one dribble.

His third game which was against Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge on Saturday witnessed a much-improved Higuain as the player was all over the pitch.

He scored two goals, registered six shots, created two goalscoring chances that were converted by Eden Hazard, and he won two aerial duels.

Higuain is yet to face any of the top-four teams so far, hence, pundits and his teammates must save their praise until the Stamford Bridge outfits tackle Manchester City next weekend.

His performance throughout February will reveal if he should be praised by Chelsea fans. This is because there are some tricky fixtures ahead of Sarri and his men.

After City’s challenge on the 10th of this month , the Blues will take on Malmo in one of Europa League’s round-32 fixtures.

Manchester United are next in line for the former Premier League Champions as they hope to progress to the next round of FA Cup competition.

Sarri’s men will tackle the Citizens once again before the end of the month as both teams will compete for this year’s Carabao Cup glory.

Should Higuain put up fine display in all the listed fixtures, then, we can shower huge praise on him.
