June 12 2018 makes it four years since Cesc Fabregas ditched Arsenal in order to sign a contract with the Gunners Premier League rivals Chelsea F.C.
Fabregas, joins the Blues from Barcelona for a fee in the region of £30m on a five-year deal, and has gone on to win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the League Cup with Chelsea since then. Recent reports, however, if they bears fruit, claims the Spaniard could be on his way to AC Milan or Inter Milan in next couple of months.
His current contract expires at the end of the current season meaning he’d be able to leave Chelsea on a free move next summer, a situation which Chelsea are obviously not going to accept. But, should Fabregas fail to sign a new deal soon, Chelsea could well sell him in January, with both AC Milan and Inter Milan strongly keen on acquiring his signature.
It has been a pesky knee injury that have ruled the midfielder out of action and he’s yet to make any competitive appearance under new boss Maurizio Sarri, although, the Spaniard did registered an hour of the club’s 2-0 Community Shield defeat to Man City back in early August.
Competition for a starting role in Chelsea’s midfield is extremely high at this stage. Since the summer arrival of Jorginho from Napoli, the Italy international has been extremely effective playing in a deep position in the middle of the park, while N’Golo Kante, as we all know, is simply undroppable.
Chelsea have another new face in Mateo Kovacic who has – also joined the club in the summer from Real Madrid on a season-long loan – registered two appearances – accumulating 79 minutes in both appearances – while they have Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek fighting for a place in the starting line-up in the pecking order.
That said, the World Cup and Euro winner, may decide to calls time on his Chelsea career. He already have in his trophy cabinet, both the league and domestic honours in England and Spain, and bid to add further honours over in Italy with either AC Milan or Inter Milan would be another great achievement.
Come December, Cesc Fabregas will be able to start opening talks with any of his suitors, and should he fails making it to Sarri’s first-team plans with Chelsea before January or next summer perhaps, leaving the Stamford Bridge outfits will definitely be his final decision.
