Celtic fans have been somewhat lose confidence in recent times after seeing their team make a poor start to the new season, which has already seen them miss out of the Champions League.

Many Hoops faithful have been frustrated with club’s activity so far in recent times, with Spurs’ summer transfer window business a particular source of irritation given they have only made four signings so far, two of which are frees and another a loan deal.

The reigning Scottish champions were outstanding last season in securing back-to-back domestic trebles, thus showing their domination of football in Scotland. Celtic may have more of a battle on their hands this season given they have won and lost the other of their opening two Scottish Premiership matches, while they also failed to reach the Champions League group stages for the first time under Brendan Rodgers’ tutelage after going down 3-2 on aggregate to Greek side AEK Athens in the third qualifying round.

With no doubt, many would have expected Rodgers to seriously strengthen the core of his team this summer having guarded Celtic to defending their domestic treble last season, alongside the fact that Rangers appear to be growing under the guidance of new boss Steven Gerrard, who has made 12 signings so far this window.

Yet, Odsonne Edouard, Scott Bain, Emilio Izaguirre, and Daniel Arzani are the only men to make the move to Celtic this summer.

But Celtic signing out-of-favour Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente, who is valued at £6.3 million by Transfermarkt, would go some way to giving many Celtic fans something to cheer after a tough summer and poor start to the new season.

Llorente may have struggled for regular football since he joined Tottenham 12 months ago, but one mustn’t forget his record as a striker while at Swansea City and for Athletic Bilbao and there’s a reason why he has earned 24 appearances for Spain.

The striker have netted 111 goals in 327 appearances for Bilbao in all outings during an eight-year spell with the La Liga club, which has earned him a move to Juventus, where he continued to impress by scoring 27 times in 92 appearances for the Italian heavyweights.

Llorente continued his brilliant goal-scoring form when he joined Swansea back in 2016, in which the striker played a key role in helping the Swans in the top-flight by scoring 15 goals in just 33 appearances for the South Wales club.
