Celtic were confirmed Scottish Premiership champions for the seventh consecutive season after beating Rangers 5-0 in Sunday’s Old Firm derby.

A brace from Odsonne Edouard helped put Graeme Murty’s side to the sword and now the Hoops are focused on making history.
Edouard opened the scoring from close range in the 13th minute after fine work out wide from Kieran Tierney. Celtic had to wait until the 40th minute to double their advantage, with James Forrest putting Eduoard through on goal to make it 2-0.
Before the half-time whistle blew, Forrest got himself on the scoresheet with a brilliant solo goal, beating three defenders and firing past Jak Alnwick for 3-0.
Celtic grabbed their fourth just minutes after the break, with Tom Rogic scoring a rebounded effort. Their fifth came only six minutes after Rogic’s effort, with Callum McGregor steering in a cutback from Edouard.
Brendan Rodgers could now seal back-to-back domestic trebles as Celtic manager if the Hoops beat Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final on May 19, having already retained the Scottish League Cup with a win over Motherwell in November’s final in 2017.
Celtic are now 13 points clear of Rangers in the Premiership table with three games remaining, and the result has given Aberdeen a real chance of finishing in second place – the Dons are three points clear.
The Hoops have dominated their fierce rivals in head-to-heads this season, beating Rangers twice at Ibrox – 2-0 in September and 3-2 in March – while thrashing them 4-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final two weeks ago.
Celtic will now focus on finishing the league season strong and being in fine form for their cup final next month.
