Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo stunned the footballing world with a sensational overhead kick in Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final win over Juventus.

Los Blancos came away with a 3-0 victory in the first leg in Turin, with Ronaldo scoring twice for his troubles. It was his second goal that earned him plaudits, beating Gianluigi Buffon with an overhead kick that led to Juventus supporters applauding him.

Ronaldo’s goal was his 14th in the Champions League and his 39th in all competitions this season. The 33-year-old has scored in all of his six meetings with the Serie A giants, netting nine goals in total, two of which came in the 2017 Champions League final at the Millennium Stadium.

The Portuguese international has scored 14 of Real’s 25 Champions League goals this season (56%) and has played in every minute of every game in Europe.

Real Madrid won’t defend their La Liga title given they are currently 13 points adrift of Barcelona with only eight games remaining, but they could well win a third consecutive Champions League trophy.

Taking a 3-0 aggregate lead to the Bernabeu, Real need only to avoid defeat to Juventus by more than two clear goals to book their place in the semi-finals.
