Paris Saint-Germain announced the signing of midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Napoli in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Fabian has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions, becoming their fifth new signing in the transfer window after Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukiele, and Hugo Ekitike.
The Spanish international ends a four-season stay at Napoli, where he won the 2019-20 Coppa Italia, and moves to Paris for a reported €21.5 million ($21.5 million) fee, according to DPA.
Fabian said, “I’m very happy to sign for Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a joy for me to start this new stage of my career in this country. And I’m proud to come to one of the best clubs in Europe with the best players in the world. It’s a truly exciting challenge.”
Last season, the 26-year-old scored seven goals and provided four assists as Napoli finished third in Serie A.
Only Dries Mertens and Ruslan Malinovskyi (both 15) have scored more goals from outside the penalty area in Serie A since Fabian joined Napoli in 2018. (13).
His arrival at PSG, along with Portugal’s Sanches and Vitinha, comes after Christophe Galtier allowed Georginio Wijnaldum to join Roma.
Fabian’s departure comes after the departures of key trio of Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Paris Saint-Germain loan out Leandro Paredes
Leandro Paredes, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, has been loaned to Juventus for the remainder of the season, the French champions announced on Wednesday.
PSG stated that Juventus will have the option to make the 28-year-old Argentina star’s contract permanent at the end of the season.
Paredes follows in the footsteps of his international teammate Angel Di Maria, who moved from Paris to Juventus during the offseason on a free transfer.
PSG signed Paredes from Zenit Saint-Petersburg in January 2019 for a reported 47 million euros ($54 million at the time), and he now returns to Italy, where he previously played for Chievo, Roma, and Empoli.
Paredes’ departure comes just a day after the Ligue 1 champions signed Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Spain.
They have also added Portuguese duo Vitinha and Renato Sanches to their midfield over the summer, while Ander Herrera (Athletic Bilbao), Georginio Wijnaldum (Roma) and Eric Junior Diba Ebimbe (Eintracht Frankfurt) have all left on loan too.
Earlier on Wednesday PSG also loaned out young midfielder Edouard Michut to English Championship side Sunderland.
