The BBC’s Tam Cowan has said that Kieran Tierney will be Scotland’s Player of the Year, after a brilliant campaign for Celtic.
Writing in his column in the Scottish Sun, the BBC’s Off the Ball presenter tore strips off Aberdeen for their lacklustre display against the league leaders last weekend.
He said that after Celtic had travelled back from Russia on Thursday they were there for the taking and that Aberdeen were really poor.
“Hands up, I’ve got a wee soft spot for Aberdeen — I’ve blown so much smoke up the backsides of their travelling support, I’m amazed they don’t all have a bad cough — and that’s why I was so frustrated by Sunday’s woeful performance.
“Incidentally, I reckon we’ll also be congratulating Kieran Tierney on being Scotland’s Player of the Year — his stunning goal at Pittodrie last week surely convinced any floating voters.“Rodgers thinks KT is a natural successor to Scott Brown as Scotland captain and it’s hard to disagree. In fact, I can see him wearing the armband for the next 15 years.”
Tierney has been a standout performer for Celtic again this season and the 20-year-old left-back continues to impress for someone so young. It can only be so long before some of the big clubs come knocking for him but he seems very happy under Rodgers and at Celtic. Player of the Year would be a deserved accolade this year and we certainly can’t think of anyone more deserving.
