According to Italian news outlet TuttoSport, Real Madrid are joined with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the race to sign Lazio’s Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
PSG were initially believed to the front-runners for the midfielder’s signature as they were believed to make an offer thought to be around €170m but it now seems the La Liga holders are ready to battle it out to secure the service of the player.
Milinkovic-Savic has been in brilliant form this season, netting nine goals with six assists in 32 games. His impressive results has now been attracting interest from all around Europe and Lazio are said to be demanding a hefty fee if they’re to consider parting ways with the player.
The Serbian player is believed to have a market value of over €80m and he is a very highly rated figure at Lazio. The club’s sporting directo Igli Tare was keen to play down the reports concerning one of the club’s prize assets.
As reported by Football Espana, he said:
“We have not received any calls from Florentino Perez or any Madrid officials.
“This is a situation which we will discuss at the end of the season, that will be the time to evaluate the position and analyse bids for any players. His value is very high, we rejected offers of €70m last summer so…”
It appears that the club sporting director understands that if the Los Blancos come calling, it will be difficult to stop the player leaving the club, but he is keen to get as much money as possible for the young midfielder.
The Serie A side currently sit third in the league are hoping to secure themselves a spot in next season’s Champions League and if they can achieve this, Savic may be tempted to stay at the club to continue his development a little while longer.
