Celtic should be considering a number of new contracts at the club between now and the end of the season before the summer transfer window begins on July 1.
A whole host of Celtic players are set enter their final year at the club by the end of the season, including the likes of captain Scott Brown, in-form winger James Forrest and playmaker Tom Rogic.
But surely one player that deserves a new deal on his current deal at the Celtic Park ins Kouassi Eboue, now a year since his £3million move from Russian outfit Krasnodar.
The tough-tackling Ivory Coast international signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the club in January 2017, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021. Although Kouassi’s future is not in doubt at the club, the player deserves the kind of pay cheque that shows his value.
According to the Daily Star, the tabloid claims the midfielder is earning just £1,200 a week, despite playing alongside the likes of Brown who is earning £25,000 a week with the Scottish champions.
He has started three of the club’s last four Scottish Premiership matches, and the player is now considered a key member of the club in the middle of park along with Olivier Ntchma, Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and Scott Brown.
He is finally proving his transfer fee in green and white, and if Rodgers wants to keep the midfielder happy, he must increase his wage to reflect his performances.
