According to new stats, Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos has now been matched, even surpassed, by Celtic’s Moussa Dembele.
Rangers’ poor start to the season was initially tempered by the quick adaptation of striker Alfredo Morelos to Scottish football.
The Colombian international made a big impact for Rangers in the first few weeks at Ibrox, but Morelos’ early success in Glasgow has waned.
The forward has not scored since September, and he is now being eclipse Celtic’s Moussa Dembele… who missed the first few weeks of the season.
According to stats as collated by BBC Sport, the Rangers’ ace is averaging a goal every 179 minutes of action, while his rival is on target once every 104 minutes.
Dembele on the other hand, has been getting better week in week out, and has now scored eight goals in 15 matches for Celtic.
Morelos is also on the same radar, but the Colombian needed 9 matches to score his eight goals – and three of Dembele’s games in which in finds the net have been against considerably tougher opposition in the Champions League.
Dembele also, has another advantages ahead of Morelos, the France under-20 international has provided his team-mates with three assists while Morelos has two.
Rangers fans had hoped Morelos could surpass Dembele, and the reported Crystal Palace target had given their ace a big early head-start this season.
But Dembele’s slide in form and his impressive return for Celtic has seen him catch the Colombian up already, and he is likely to start pulling away from his Rangers rival.
