Being at the top of the league is something the supported enjoy most about their club. Celtic have 11 points gap ahead of second place Rangers and look on course to win the title for the seventh consecutive season.
But the Bhoys manager Brendan Rodgers knows that improvements can still be made to his side and might dip into the transfer market this January, especially if Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Dembele face the exit door at the Parkhead. As such, one player who have been linked with Celtic is Chelsea’s Lewis Baker.
The Hoops are reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old who is rated at £4.5m at Transfermarkt and his Blues team-mate Charly Musonda, probably signing the duo on a loan deal. The latter spent had just returned to Chelsea having the spent the first half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship but has failed to make much of an impression and he could be recalled this month by Chelsea.
The England under-21 international featured regularly towards the start of the year for the Championship side but Garry Monk froze him out and he has not made a league appearance for Boro since September. Baker needs to leave the Riverside for a greener pasture and a move to Celtic could be on cards.
He could reignite his career at the Parkhead. However, he might need to prove his worth to Rodgers first but he has plenty ability which just needs to bring back to life. Naturally a central midfielder, the Chelsea midfielder is versatile and he can be utilize anywhere in the midfield.
Baker poses a great attacking threat which would surely becomes a Trojan to lot of Scottish Premiership defences. He could be the short term solution Rodgers’ problems and there Celtic might even be opportune to sign one of England’s best young player on a permanent deal, given the competition in Antonio Conte‘s Chelsea squad.
