Celtic faithfuls are eager to see their side’s return to league action this weekend when the team welcome Hibernian at the Parkhead, knowing that victory would take them 14 points clear of second place Rangers.
Brendan Rodgers’s side went into the New Year winning all three domestic trophies following their Scottish League Cup success back in November, in which the Bhoys beat Motherwell 2-0 in the final at Hampden Park. Add to Celtic’s outstanding Scottish Premiership campaign last term, in which the Scottish champions dropped just eight points en route to a record-breaking points tally, alongside their victory in the Scottish Cup, and expectations are high around Parkhead that Rodgers’ side can look to do the same this time round, as well as enjoy success on the European stage.
Thus, there are many optimistic fans at present, although they are unlikely to be happy with the new report from The Scottish Sun, which suggest that Premier League side Crystal Palace have joined in the race to sign Dundee F.C defender Jack Hendry.
Hendry made the decision to join Dundee in the summer following a two-year spell at Wigan Athletic, and has certainly been impressive at Dens Park with 22 Scottish Premiership appearances for the club, netting one goal along line.
And his brilliant effort have reportedly attracted huge interest from Celtic, who are desperately in need of defensive reinforcement ahead of their title defence, yet the report from the Scottish Sun may convey a potentially big blow for the Bhoys as Roy Hodgson’s side have reportedly joined the chase for the centre-back and the PL side are going to be a strong side to fend-off.
And with Celtic’s unlikely to sanction a £1.5 million to convince Dundee into selling their prized asset, the Scottish champions may well miss out on the superbly talented defender.
Hendry, who only joined Dundee back in the summer, has certainly proven his worth to the club with several impressive performances in the first half of the season.
