Fans will have to wait to see new signing Marvin Compper make his debut for the club as he has been hit by an injury.

The Scottish champions moved to sign the player from Budesliga side RB Leipzig earlier this month and he linked up with the team at their winter training camp in Dubai.

The defender suites Brendan Rodger’s options in defence, but the Northern Irishman manager has confirmed that the Germany international will be out for between three to four weeks with a calf injury.

Celtic have just let one defender leave the club in the shape of Erik Sviatchenko, who has joined FC Midtjylland on a loan deal.

As such, his injury will be a massive blow to the Celtic’s squad as they look to get back to business with the end of Scottish winter break.

The Bhoys play Brechin in the Scottish Cup this coming Saturday before their trip to Parthick Thistle in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday night.

The Bhoys will also have to make do without Compper for games against Hibernian and Hearts, both at Paradise, at the end of the month.

In order Celtic News, Tom Rogic’s has also been ruled out with an injury and could spend time on the sidelines until March after Rodgers revealed the classy Australian international was out for ‘6-8 weeks.’

The 25-year-old has been an integral part of the Bhoys squad in the past few seasons with his creativity aiding the team with goals and assists. Rogic’s absence was underlined by Rodgers after the Rangers game, which ended in a 0-0 draw at Celtic Park.

He was hit with the injury in wake of the 1-0 home defeat to Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League. Celtic will be hoping that the playmaker is fit and back into the fray for the defence of the Scottish Cup and the League.

Compper now joins Rogic, Roberts, Ralston, Hayes and Armstrong on the Celtic Park injury list. Rodgers could be tempted to look to bring in a couple of players to sure up his ranks in the coming weeks.
