Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has revealed he would love to keep on-loan Celtic attacker Ryan Christie at the club beyond this season.
McInnes stressed that it’s too early for the club to decide whether they will attempt to take the attacking midfielder on loan again or try and sign him on a permanent basis instead.
Christie has been a superb player for the club this season, netting five goals and registering eight assists for the club across 25 matches, and the Dons boss commented on his impact for the club whilst also revealing how much he likes the attacker.
McInnes as quoted by the Daily Record said:
“I am enjoying working with both Ryan and Greg (Stewart, on loan from Birmingham City), so if there were any encouragement or opportunity to extend that working period with them it is something I would always be keen on.”
The attacker is currently on his second loan time with Aberdeen, which is set to end at the end of the season. Christie has featured in just 13 macthes for Celtic so far in his career, and only contracted to the club until 2019.
Ryan Christie is a promising prospect, who is now good enough to be given an opportunity, at the very least, in Brendan Rodger’s Celtic starting Xi. However, with the attacker contract relatively close to finishing, the Scottish champions might just decide to cash in on him while they can still do so.
Christie leaving the Parkhead would be a shame without the Bhoys seeing the best of him, but depending on the whooping offer that might come in for him, selling him might worth it. The Hoops really need to bringing in new face to help improve their European run as the Scottish Premier League continues to go well for them, and Christie’s sale could help that.
