Frank De Boer has left the door open for a sensational return to Ibrox after the Dutch manager admitted it would be hard to turn down his old club.
The ex-AFC Ajax, Inter Milan and Crystal Palace manager spent six months in Glasgow with the Light Blues, and his comments come in the weeks of those of his twin brother Ronald, who said his brother would find it hard to turn down the move to Ibrox.
He’s coming off a disastrous spell with Crystals Palace, with De Boer only lasting 77 days as manager before being sacked in favour of Roy Hodgson.
The 47-year-old’s reign at Palace followed another ill-fated spell with Italian side Inter Milan which lasted just 85 days.
Speaking in exclusive interview with voetbalzone.nl, De Boer said: “As a player I played football there for a while and the atmosphere was fantastic, you never know if it can come back.
“We have to look at the possibilities, but they have not contacted yet.”

While De Boer still retains respect from his playing days, where he became the Netherlands second-most capped player, the Dutch’s stock as a manager has fallen drastically in recent years. A dominant spell in charge of Ajax brought them four league titles under him, but a move to Inter Milan failed before his time at Crystal Palace saw him become the shortest-serving manager in Premier League history.
In all honesty, it is De Boer’s twin brother Ronald who holds more influence in Glasgow, with Frank only playing at Ibrox for half a season. White it could be said that his spells at Inter and Palace were cut short prematurely, Rangers will not want to bring in a manager who takes time to make an impact, and Derek McInnes remains the hot favourite to take the Ibrox hot seat.
