AC Milan are not ready to release on loan Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic from his loan spell at the San Siro and could stay on for another season.

The Croatia international, who has not featured in any game for Chelsea since he moved to the Stamford Bridge in 2014, Joined AC Milan last summer and has become an integral part of the team at San Siro this season.

During his first few months at the club, he had a very poor display but has become a key member of Vincenzo Montella’s team, picking up 4 goals in 24 appearances, and he is scheduled to go back to the Bridge at the end of the season.

According to reports, the Rossneri are working hard behind the scenes to keep hold of him at the club beyond the end of this campaign and are hoping they could come to an agreement with Chelsea.

The Serie A giants are highly reliant on the player’s persistence on the field. He has been a regular starter at the Rossoneri this season, and are hopeful the Croat will find enough reason to stay on at the San Siro.

However, it has been suggested that Antonio Conte, has been keeping tabs on Pasalic’s display and might want to add him to the Blues’ ranks ahead of the new season as doubts remain over the future of fellow midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The 22-year-old’s contract with the Blues will expire at the end of next season and it is still uncertain if the club will offer him a new deal in the summer, which would be a pointer that they want him in the West London club.
