It’s just the start of April but it seems the Blues boss Antonio Conte has already started planning for the next season, Per reports, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is on Chelsea’s radar and the Italian manager is reportedly ready to do whatever it takes to lure the Chilean international to Stamford Bridge this summer. The former Barcelona and Udinese forward is currently unsettled with the Gunners, thanks to the lack of progress under Arsene Wenger, and is yet to put pen to paper on a new agree on a new extension with the Gunners on his current deal that expires at the end of the season. Therefore, the Gunners will have to ship him out this summer or risk losing him for free. Antonio Conte’s side are ready to take advantage of this situation at the Emirates, but here is why Stamford Bridge is not the right home for Sanchez at all costs.
It is quite evident that the Chilean wants to win trophies on a regular basis and there are no doubts Chelsea’s boss ability to deliver at Stamford Bridge. However, the issue would be if the Chilean will be as big part of the Blues squad. With 22 goals and 18 assists to his name in all competition this season, the Chilean is one of the most productive players in his position in Europe and is by far the most important player for the Gunners.
Currently playing as false-9, Sanchez has seen the Arsene Wenger mend the team and their play according to his preferred style and this has worked wonders for Sanchez who is enjoying a tremendous season. However, they remain in 6th in the EPL table and have to play out of their style to qualify for the Champions League so he might end up quitting Arsenal at the end of the season, in search of Champions League football next season, if his side fail to qualify for the same. Though the Blues can offer that, the Chilean will have to work his way into the first team and play in a slightly different role, which might affect his productivity.
Though the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have been linked with an exit in the summer recently, former Juventus boss is not expected to let either of the face the exit door at Stamford Bridge this summer and Sanchez will only add to this high-profile attack. With a return like that of his, the Chilean will surely be the first choice for Conte which might see the likes of Willian and Pedro drop to the bench. This is some insane depth in the squad for the Blues but leaves Sanchez with little margin for error.
With two wingers who are equally capable, breathing down his neck, Sanchez will have to work harder to impress the manager every week, and though that might help him improve as a player, it will demand more of him. The Chilean has done superbly well in teams where he has been the focal point and at Chelsea, he will just be one of the big names and a couple of bad games is sure to push him to the bench. Sanchez is better of playing for a club who are ready to play around a player who is in the prime of his career.
In your opinion, do you think Sanchez should move to the Stamford Bridge this summer?
