Liverpool woes continued following their embarrassing exit from the FA Cup. The Reds were defeated by second-tier club Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-2 on Saturday.

The Merseysiders who were once strong favourites for the league title have seen their season crumbled like pack of cards in recent weeks and not even the return of star player Philippe Coutinho has been able to prevent that. They could end this campaign without any silverware despite their strong to the season.

A shock 3-4 loss to Swansea in the Premier League last Saturday was followed by another defeat to Southampton in the EFL semi-final match on Wednesday leaving them with only the Premier League title to contest for. And that is not even realistic too as they are 10 points behind leaders having dropped from the top of the league summit to fourth.

They will face the Blues in the league on Tuesday and could lose more ground in the title race should they lose to the London club. They defeated Chelsea in the reverse fixture back in September but much has changed for both clubs and only a win for Antonio Conte side can now be envisaged.

Jurgen Klopp had made nine changes to the team that lost to Southampton in the EFL semi-final match. Richard Stearman put Wolves ahead just a minute into the match and Andreas Weimann doubled his side lead 40 minutes later.

Divock Origi pulled one back for Liverpool four minutes from time and they couldn’t get the equalizer as they fell to their second defeat in cup competitions in four days and a third home defeat in a week. Liverpool have won only one game in 2017 so far.
