According to The S*n, Tottenham Hotspur will agree a deal with Manchester United for Toby Alderweireld as long as Anthony Martial is included. The Londoners are keen to strengthen their attack this summer and would allow Alderweireld to leave if it meant the United forward came in the opposite direction.

Alderweireld joined Spurs from Atletico Madrid in 2015 and has gone on to make 109 appearances in all competitions. The 29-year-old struggled for playing time last season, however, making just 14 Premier League appearances while failing to agree a contract extension.

His deal with Tottenham has just one year remaining, forcing chairman Daniel Levy to make a decision whether to cash in on Alderweireld now or risk losing him for nothing next summer. United are hoping to capitalise on the situation as manager Jose Mourinho wants a stellar replacement in defence should Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof all leave this summer.

And they could have some luck in their pursuit of the Belgian international, so long as Martial is made part of the deal. The 22-year-old has also struggled for playing time, making 18 Premier League starts, and could consider a move to get more minutes.

With Martial scoring and creating 20 goals in 45 games in 2017/18, he’d certainly improve the Tottenham attack, but a prospective deal is some way from becoming an eventuality.
