According to Sky Sports, Arsenal could agree a £26m deal with AS Roma for midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini. The 21-year-old has only spent a year back at the Stadio Olimpico but his fine form in his debut season has led to a lot of interest in his signature – Juventus have also been linked.

Pellegrini re-joined Roma from Sassuolo in 2017, two years after leaving the Giallorossi, and has gone on to make 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating eight goals. The Italian international helped Roma to third in the Serie A and to the Champions League semi-final.

Arsenal could be losing Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey this summer with the pair failing to extend their deals at the Emirates. Wilshere will be a free transfer in a matter of weeks, while Ramsey has 12 months left on his contract. If the pair do leave, the Gunners will have a midfield void that needs filling.

Pellegrini is on their shortlist and wouldn’t break the bank with a £26m release clause. Roma appear to be planning for his departure as they’re targeting Atlanta’s Bryan Cristante as a replacement, says Sky Italia. If Arsenal don’t sign Pellegrini, they could instead go for Jean Michael Seri from OGC Nice.
