According to The S*n, Celtic are ‘confident they can agree a deal’ for Scott Bain and could turn his loan move into a permanent one this summer.

The 26-year-old has impressed in the handful of appearances he’s been given and the advancing age of Celtic’s other ‘keepers could see Bain challenge for a starting place next season.

Bain joined the Hoops from Dundee FC in January and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions for Celtic, keeping two clean sheets for his troubles.

He’s out of contract at the end of the season and made it clear he was hoping the Bhoys would come in for him when his deal with Dundee expires. It appears Bain has been granted his wish as talks are ongoing between the Premiership champions and his representatives.

Celtic currently have Craig Gordon and Dorus de Vries as their goalkeeping options, but de Vries is expected to leave in the summer due to his advancing age and inconsistent form which would leave Gordon unchallenged if they didn’t sign Bain.

Gordon spent three months sidelined with a knee injury that he’s only just returned from so the Hoops are wise to land Bain’s signature to ensure they have at least two good first-team shot-stoppers to fight for the No.1 jersey next season.
