Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to laughed off reports linking Brendan Rodgers to Premier League strugglers Southampton.
Report garnered from The Scottish Sun claimed that the team currently one point and one place above the relegation zone where interested in replacing the sacked Mauricio Pellegrino, who was sacked on Monday night.
It is believed that Rodgers at Parkhead, is earning £2.5million-a-year, which translates to around £48,000-a-week deal with Celtic.
However, it’s safe to say that Celtic fans on social media weren’t truly pleased by the reports, with one fans claiming that the press are “having a laugh” with the story.
It seems unlikely that the Northern Irishman would swap a potential Champions League season with Celtic for a potential season in the Championship with Southampton.
There’s no denying that Rodgers would like to have another chance to prove himself at England, after his time at Liverpool ended badly despite taking the Merseyside to the brink of the Premier League title.
He also had a fairly successful spell with Swansea City where he got the Swans promoted to the Premier League and firmly established in the division.
For now though, the Hoops faithful would be better off ignoring the reports and concentrating on the club’s aiming to clinch their second consecutive domestic treble, as that will be Rodgers’ wish.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the Northern Irish boss linked to Southampton:
