From Sports Illustrated, Serie A giants Inter Milan are closing in on the signing of Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij as the sports new tabloid claimed the Nerrazzurri’s are in the advanced stages.
Apparently, Luciano Spalleti’s side are keen on adding quality to their squad ahead of the upcoming season, but for as little money as possible.
According to Italian news outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport as cited by Sempre Inter:
“Stefan De Vrij and Inter have reportedly finalized an agreement and the deposition of the contract is down to the last details.”
Should things go through as expected then Inter Milan will have secured themselves a good option in defence. The Dutchman is an highly coveted one and has been linked with a host of other European clubs in the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona.
Inter are also in the market for a new left back for next season. They have been keeping a close eye on Zenit St Petersburg’s Domenico Criscito but have shifted attention to Juventus fringe player Kwadwo Asamoah as an alternative signing in case the Zenit defender joins another interested party in Genoa.
The Ghanaian defender is understood to be willing to sit down and talk about putting pen on a new deal with Juve, but the Serie A giants are ready to move in if they need to; the Nerrazurri’s would likely be able to offer him a better chance of regular game time and possibly, European football.
It could be that they make a return to the Champions League next season and will need to add more bloods to the team over the summer to prepare themselves if they qualify. Inter currently sit fifth in Serie A, just four points behind third placed Roma who have played a game more.
