Celtic are reportedly in signing Yeovil Town’s Tom James, according to reports from The Independent.
The news tabloid claim that 21-year-old has caught the attention of the Scottish club as he is able to play anywhere across the back four.
The Independent suggests further that Premier League side Swansea City are currently the favourites to sign Tom James as they want him in their squad for next season, after not being impressed with Kyle Naughton’s performances this season.
It’s believed that AFC Bournemouth are also keeping close eye on the League Two defender, after the EFL star became an important figure for Yeovil Town.
Even thought the midfielder has only signed a new contract with his side in January, he is likely to cost suitors less than £500,000 as a down payment.
The versatile 21-year-old would be an excellent signing for the Bhoys as he appears to have a bright future in the game.
James has been impressive in 40 appearances he made for his side this season, and he didn’t play out of his position when they faced Manchester United in the FA Cup in January.
He has also experienced Premier League football in England after he registered one appearance in the division during his stint with Cardiff City. The midfielder may end up leaving the EFL giants in the near future, but Swansea City will be odds-on to capture his signature.
For sure, playing in England’s most competitive League – Premier League – will be a tempting offer for the 21-year-old, but with Celtic, James will be guaranteed an European football which might earn him Wales call-up. If Celtic can beat the Swans to his signature, he will be a perfect swoop.
