Chris Sutton has given his thoughts on why he thinks Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has struggled this season.

The young French striker is one of the key players within Celtic’s first team and netted 32 goals last season across all competition as the club went on to win the domestic treble while going unbeaten in the process.

Dembele is a France Under-21 international striker but he has been inconsistent this season and has been linked with a move away from the club.

A report published by the Daily Mail via Football Weeks has revealed that Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in signing him as well as West Ham United and Everton are contemplating on whether to sign him or not.

Sutton, however, does not believe that the Frenchman’s form this season is due to the report surrounding his future at the Parkhead. Rather he believes that Dembele has struggled due to injuries.

Talking about Dembele, Sutton wrote as quoted by The Daily Record:

“He has been nowhere near the same player but I wouldn’t buy any talk from the manager that he could be affected by transfer talk and that it could have an unsettling effect.”

“Dembele’s problem has been he was hammered early in the season by a recurrence of an injury and has barely made two consecutive appearances since returning.”
