Leeds United are in the hunt to sign attacking midfielder Josh Vela from Championship rivals Bolton, according to the Daily Mail.

The British newspaper claims that the Whites are interested on signing the 23-year-old and want to reinforce their midfield options in January to help aid a promotion to the Premier League.

It is understood that both Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday are also interested in Vela, while Premier League side Brighton are also eyeing a move for him.

The report details that Bolton may be forced into selling their star when the window re-opens in January to help alleviate some of their financial worries, despite him being one of the star player at the club.

Josh Vela a good move for Leeds?

Samuel Saiz is obviously the star playmaker in the Leeds XI, but even he could do with some fierce competition in the side.

Vela is developing into a top player and does look right for the top flight if he continues to improve.

The English-born midfielder has played a key role in helping Bolton off the bottom of the Championship table and is usually deployed in the number 10 role.

The midfielder has netted two goals and supplied two assists so far, this season in his 10 Championship appearances in a struggling team, which suggests he could achieve even better stats at Elland Road.

Josh Vela to Leeds likely to happen?

The Whites will face a tough competition if they are to win the race for Vela, but Thomas Christiansen’s side have shown they are willing to give rising stars a chance in the squad.

However, Brighton’s influence could be a difficult one to beat as they have the temptation of Premier League football for the second half of the season.
