La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have reportedly offered a contract to sign Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil.
According to The Sun, the newspaper claimed that the Spanish side have presented the 29-year-old with a contract worth £200,000-a-week with a “huge signing on fee” with Ozil’s current deal at the Emirates Stadium expiring this summer.
The Sun reports that Diego Simeone‘s side are desperate to add more attacking options to their ranks and believe that the Germany international is the perfect man for the job.
Mesut Ozil exit good move for Arsenal?
As Ozil has refused to agree a new deal at Arsenal, it seems inevitable that the German will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Although Ozil is likely to be missed at the Emirates, Arsenal would surely prefer him to secure a move abroad rather than join fellow Premier League rivals such as Manchester United, who have reportedly shown an interest to sign the former Real Madrid playmaker.

Ozil has not really been impressive for the Gunners so far this season, only contributing with one goal and two assists in the Premier League.
Arsenal are to be held responsive for the way in which they have handled Ozil’s contract situation as they should have either tied him down to new deal by now or sought to sell the midfielder for a considerable amount of money.
Mesut Ozil to Atletico Madrid likely to happen?
As mentioned in the report, Ozil is looking to bag more than £300,000-a-week according to Daily Mail, and it’s highly unlikely that Atletico Madrid would be willing to offer him such a large contract.
Furthermore, Ozil might have his sights set on a move to one of Europe’s top clubs and with Diego Simeone’s team struggling to find their rhythm this season, he will need to be convinced to return to Spain.
As the season progresses, it’s likely we see more and more teams showing interest on Ozil with contract offers so he can take his time and not make a hasty decision.
