Tottenham Hotspur took all three points from Swansea in a gritty display of skill before hosting Watford to a thorough defeat and this has established them firmly in the 2nd place in the points table, with just 7 more fixtures to go this season.
Though Spurs have shown they are not lacking in strength and skill, Manager Mauricio Pochettino will be disappointed at the under-performance of some of his players and will want to push some of them out of the club to reduce the wage burden and create space for new intake. However some players in the squad hardly get any playing time and waiting for the opportunity to prove themselves. Here are three of such players Pochettino should consider holding on to for another season:
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou
N’Koudou, another deadline signing, has been unable to prove himself worthy of a place in the team and could be sent out on loan at the end of the season. At 22, he still has enough of his career ahead of him and enough time for improvement which would probably come in a few years. He can lay claim to just one assist in 14 appearances across all competition this season, but he is an exciting player who could come off better. Pochettino should make provision for him to stay another season as a substitute for first team attackers.
Moussa Sissoko
Pochettino had high expectations of Sissoko, who joined Tottenham on the last day of the transfer window from Newcastle. He was expected to help Spurs in both England and Europe but he is yet to have a meaningful impact in the first team as he has only managed three assists in 19 league appearances this season. At 27, he is still in the prime of his career. He has shown he has the potential to become one of the best and his versatility should be enough reason for Pochettino to give him another season to prove himself.
Vincent Janssen
Dutch strike Vincent Janssen is another summer signing whose inefficiency has taken him far away from the spotlight. He transferred to the club after he was honored as the Eredivise player of the year in the previous season but Janssen lost the quality that got him the honor as soon as he came to England. At just 22, he has experienced the pressure of being in the most competitive league in Europe. His productivity of 5 goals and 4 assists in 33 games this season is not the best of his career but he has great potential of doing better and Pochettino should keep him for one more season.
