According to Italian news outlet TransferMarketWeb, Tottenham Hotspur are showing strong interest in Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi in the summer transfer window.
The forward is tipped as one of the most promising attackers in Italy and is expected to make the headlines and he has been under the Spurs radar for some time now. However, the deal might prove to be a complicated one for the Lilywhites as per ESPN FC, it claimed the Serie A club president Giorgio Squizi that there is a deal in place with Serie A champions Juventus, for the transfer of Berardi in the summer. However, the North London club believe that they can convince the player over a move to the White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino’s have been chasing a wide player for quite a while but have struggled to find ideal man. Last campaign saw the club manager Pochettino bring in Clinto Njie from the Ligue 1. The youngster failed to impress in the EPL and was shipped back to the Ligue 1 on loan this season.
Spurs invested quite heavily in the summer of 2016 as well, this has seen the addition of two Frenchmen, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Moussa Sissoko. The duo player have been a waste of resources for the North Londoners. N’Koudouo, who is still young, has some scope to develop in the youth set-up. However, Sissoko, who was expected to make an impact at White Hart Lane struggled badly.
The former Newcastle United made the move to Tottenham after a strong performance in the Euro 2016 but has found it hard to transfer in the league. If reports are anything to go by, then Tottenham are looking to cut their losses on the player and sell him at the end of the season.
So, it has become a primary objective that the club sign a new wide player in the summer transfer window and a host of names have been linked over the past few months. Berardi could be the ideal player to come in and add that much-needed spark down the flanks for Tottenham.
Firstly, he fits into the transfer policy that Spurs have adapted in recent years under Pochettino; bringing in young players with immense potential and promise, and overseeing their development. The fact that he has been in great form for Sassuolo this season bodes really well for Spurs.

Having just registered 17 appearances this across all competitions, he has managed to see the net 7 times and also has notched up 5 assists for his teammates – clearly this is not a bad numbers by any standards. 5 of Berardi goals was in the Europa League Qualifying stages (from just 4 games), it would be right to say that he has the pedigree to perform at the continental stages as well.
