Mesut Ozil, alongside teammate Alexis Sanchez, is yet to agree a contract extension with his current deal at the Emirates set to expire at the end of next season.

Star duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are yet to pen a new contract extension with their current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

Both players’ intention was to wait out for when matters on the pitch would be changed in their favor and this only added to the speculations that they both could be leaving the club this summer

But Ozil gave an inkling he is ready to prolong his stay at Arsenal and sign the extension.

The German said he satisfied in the North London club and have no qualms concerning his contract.

“I am contracted until 2018 and I feel very comfortable,” he told German newspaper Die Welt.

“We’ll talk soon and then make a decision.”

Ozil’s decision would be welcome development to the Gunners with their continued decline in performance which has seen them evicted from the top four

But in spite of their recent loss of form , the 28-year-old is confident they can still have a strong finish.

“Of course, we have had a difficult time recently and we are not satisfied with sixth place,” he added.

“I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let’s see what the future holds.”
