Leicester City renewed vitality jogged everyone’s memory that the likes of Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater, Kasper Schmeichel and co can boast of being a Premier League champion. Schmeichel have not had good fortune since Claudio Ranieri was sent away from the club.

In Leicester’s first Champions League campaign, Schmeichel saved a penalty in each leg of the last 16 tie with Sevilla – from Joaquín Correa and Steven N’Zonzi respectively, he also denied Andy Carroll a goal in their clash against West Ham United last weekend, thereby adding more value to his £15million worth, as reported by Daily Mirror.

His display throughout the duration of the season was what got Everton’s Ronald Koeman attention.

With the Toffees experiencing difficulty between the sticks, the publication suggests the Danish as the ultimate solution. First choice keeper Joel Robles’ – who contract expires next summer – skills behind the sticks cannot be compare to Schmeichel in terms of consistency despite his recent display of strength.

And this could potentially give Everton an edge over Arsenal in their race to sign the shot-stopper. As per reports by the Daily Mail, a move might be coming through for him if Arsene Wenger decides to extend his stay at the Emirates.

The observant would agree that Arsenal has a lot of defective areas that need to be improved on before considering to make an offer for a goalkeeper as that would only cause friction between the new signing, Petr Cech and David Ospina. Wenger have at a point characterized Cech and Ospina as the best of the best.

The decision should be an easy one for Schmeichel. He would be presented with first team opportunity at Goodison Park and being a second choice should not be an option to be considered after just two season of winning the title.
