Tottenham has been one of the most in-form clubs since the beginning of the previous season but the Spurs have been finding it difficult been able to compete for the Premier League title or in Europe. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will be relatively happy with the progress of his side this season but he would know that he will have to work on the squad in order to take them one step further.
Tottenham are currently 2nd in the points table, 10 points off Chelsea and have little chance of catching them. But the Argentine boss will hope that his can come closer in the next campaign. They have a decent squad, but they need to bring in new additions to the squad to be able to compete for the Premier League title or the Europe top flight and in order to achieve this, Pochettino might have to spend big to get such players to the club. His side need a couple of stars who can walk into the first team next season to make them title contenders and here are three such players who can turnaround their team into genuine league contenders next season.
Michail Antonio (West Ham United):
Michail Antonio is one of the most brilliant players in the country at the moment, Antonio has been very effective player Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United this season.
However, he has been linked with an exit in the summer, he is wanted by a host of clubs in England and the Spurs are one such suitor. Antonio is capable of playing in a variety of roles, he is the ideal player perfect for Pochettino in every aspect. He will add strength to his attack, and his record of 9 goals and 5 assists in the
EPL only make him an even brighter prospect. It’s not certain if the Hammers will want to sell him but if Pochettino manages to bring him to White Hart Lane, he can solve more than just one problem in the squad and help the North London outfit take the next step.
Isco (Real Madrid):
Another who can bring balance to White Hart Lane is Spanish and Real Madrid midfielder Isco. The Spaniard has been frustrated with the lack of playing time at the Bernabeu and has constantly been linked with an exit in the summer transfer window. Per recent reports, it suggests that Barcelona might beat Spurs to his signature but a peculiar condition might see the player consider a move to the White Hart Lane at the end of the season. Isco has 6 goals and 6 assists to his name this season.
With majority of his appearances coming from the bench, he would be eyeing a move to a club where he could get guarantee of regular playing time. Isco can utilized together with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen as a part of three men behind Harry Kane next season, which will make them a formidable attack; certainly one of the best in the country.
James Rodriguez (Real Madrid):
James Rodriguez is another star who is unhappy with lack of playing at Bernabeu. The Colombian international burst into fame with his performances in the 2014 World Cup but he has not been able to impress Real current manager Zinedine Zidane at Bernabeu and has been on the fringes of the first team.
He has 5 goals and 12 assists in just 22 games this season, most of which had come from the bench and this has seen him linked with an exit recently. Again, James can play as a part of three-man attacking midfield for Pochettino. He would turn into a world-class attacker if given enough time to get used to life in the Premier League. Without a doubt, the 25-year-old is a player who can add that extra bit that can Pochettino’s side all the way next season.
