Tottenham Hotspurs are really doing great in working in Arsenal steps and are better at it than the Gunners. They’re going places both on and off the field. The Spurs has been making huge strides over the past two years in England and look set to be on the verge of becoming the best club in England and Europe in the coming years.
Tottenham came very close to winning the EPL title last season, only to see their dreams shatter following a series of poor results at the very end of the season. Eventually, Pochettino’s side finished third in the title race, one place behind arch rivals, Arsenal.
However, they are all set to improve on their finish last season, as they occupy the second spot in the league standings ten points behind league leaders Chelsea. There is pressure from Manchester City and Liverpool below them, but the Spurs look good for a runner-up finish this season.
This would please their fans boundlessly, especially considering the face that arch-rivals Arsenal are struggling to get back to their winning ways and find themselves at 6th position in the league with the hopes of Champions League football looking bleaker with each passing week.
On the off field issue, they are taking big steps in the right direction in establishing their side as one of the best in England. The construction of a new stadium is underway for Spurs, right next to the White Hart Lane and the Spurs new stadium is expected to be ready for the 2018-19 season. The new stadium will seat close to 61,000 fans comprising of a single-tier stand just 5 meters away from the goal line. It has also been reported that the single-tier stand will be the largest in the country with 17,000 seats.
It comes with a double number of seats than the White Hart Lane and will also be slightly larger than Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Tottenham’s reported cost of the construction of the stadium is believed to be in the range of £750 million. There results on the field and the progress that is being made off of it clearly reveals a change in power at North London, with Spurs coming in as the new superpowers in the region.
What will be extremely disappointing for Arsenal will be the fact that, the North London rival have copied their blueprint for success. Tottenham have a bright manager in Mauricio Pochettino, with a young and exciting club, playing an attractive brand of football, with a controlled wage bill and a brand new state of the art of stadium.
This were all promised to the Gunners in the early years of millennium. In Arsene Wenger, Arsenal had one of the brightest managers in the world. The squad is so strong that it comprises a great blend youth and experience. A move to the Emirates from the Highbury was supposed to bring the best of the players into the team and turn the team into a supreme force in the footballing world.
However, things have just gone downhill for Arsenal since then. Season after season, they lost their best players. Season by season the Gunners suffered due to the Frenchman’s reluctance to spend big in the transfer market. And now, the French manager is on the verge of being replaced as the biggest club in North London.
It may well be argued that Tottenham Hotspur could go through a similar phase once their new stadium gets launched and ready for its business and the funds to invest in the transfer market tighten up. However, the fact they have tied down almost all of their first-team players with long-term contracts bodes well for the team.
Even if a player decides to leave, the contracts ensure that the club will earn a good sum of money in transfer fees and that enables them to reinvest it into the market. Also, the revenues that the club will be generating from hosting the NFL matches can be used for good purposes. Overall, things look much brighter for Tottenham.
They have been under the shadows of their neighbours for way too long. Now it is the time for Tottenham to rise and shine and brightly so.
