Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger future with the Gunners has never been in doubt. Throughout his 21-years reign, he has never found himself surrounded by uncertainty but now, it seems the Frenchman is on the verge of losing his job at the Emirates club manager.
Reports’ surrounding his future with Arsenal keeps making the rounds in the media now more dominating after their massive 10-2 massacre by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, combined with one winning – 2-0 win at home against Hull City – in their last five Premier League matches. The Gunners have lost three matches away against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and West Brom Albion. They also lost at home to Watford last month.
Wenger revealed after the mauling against the Bundesliga side in the Champions League that he has thoughts of retiring and following more questions thrown at the Gunners boss after his side defeat against the Baggies, he went on cryptically claiming that he will let everyone know about his future with the club in few days.
The former AS Monaco boss was appointed as the north London club back in 1996 and in his reign as the Gunners boss, he has won 14 trophies. However, his side has not lifted the Premier League trophy since “the Invincibles’ in the 2003-04 seasons and this has shown to be the cause of recent discontent among the Gunners.
And following recent results, it seems like the 67-year-old boss could be on his way out of the Emirates he built. With his future up in the air, we look and share details at three potential destinations Wenger could find himself in the upcoming season:
Barcelona
With the current Catalan giant’s boss recently announcing that he will be leaving the Nou Camp at the end of the season, he could be able to slot and fill the void left by Luis Enrique.
He may not have won a league title in quite a long time, but his managerial instincts and abilities are well regarded in the footballing world. Wenger remains a respected icon and has been linked with several moves to Barca in the past. The French man is the joint-most successful manager in FA Cup history; he has won three EPL medals and built the only squad that went a full season unbeaten in the bpl history.
Considering Wenger’s CV, and the attractive blend of football that he brings with him, – more similar to Barca’s tiki-taka – the La Liga champions would be thinking about replacing Enrique with Wenger, ahead of next season.
Paris Saint-Germain
For 23 years, the Frenchman has not managed any team in his own country, so a return back to France could prove tempting, with the Les Parisiens the most likely destination in France.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been long-time suitors of the French boss. And it is a well-known fact that the owners share a very close relationship with Wenger. The manner in which they unexpectedly crashed out of the Champions League against Barcelona and the fact they look set to lose on the title for the first time in five years, manager Unai Emery could be on the very of facing the exit door at Parc Des Princes.
Wenger returning back to his country will appeal to Wenger and a chance to manage the club as big as PSG could be difficult to turn down.
