Antonio Conte’s side are on their way to winning two trophies as they have now found a spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and are currently clear of competition on the Premier League table.
Antonio Conte’s emergence as Chelsea manager has seen the club progressing immensely. His impact in the English club cannot be overemphasized. Conte turned around the bad fortune of the Blues after their highly unsuccessful campaign last season. Their new found success would not have been feasible without the presence of key members of the squad at the fore front of every game including David Luiz and N’Golo Kante.
The former Leicester City midfielder, Kante, has been a force to reckon with in the defensive line and he has the prospect of winning the PFA Player of the year. Forward Eden Hazard is continually proving to the world he is worthy of the world’s greatest player title. Diego Costa has firmly established himself as prolific player, scoring 18 times across all competition this term.
The disciplinary ways of the manager, players with determination, and the boosted morale of the whole of the club have kept them contending for the two most important silverware in English football.
Premier League
The league leaders have bagged maximum points in three of their last four games with the recent one being the win at West Ham United. The Blues have the best defense tactics in the record of the Premier League this season. After 27 games, Chelsea is now 10 points ahead of all league contenders with 66 points. The Blues have set a huge challenge for their rivals as the point-gap looks hard to scale.
After a succession of poor results, both Liverpool and Arsenal dropped out of the title race and Manchester United’s rigid stance with the sixth position has left just two teams in close contention with Conte’s side title race. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City occupies the second and third position respectively, although both still have hope of overthrowing the Blues, it would not be an easy task to breach the ten-point gap before the end of the season. Eight wins out of the Chelsea’s 11 remaining fixtures would see them claiming the title glory once again.
FA Cup
Chelsea’s 1-0 triumph against Manchester United earned them a spot in the last four of the competition, alongside the top six Premier League teams. Chelsea would be going against Tottenham for their next fixture.
Chelsea has won the FA Cup seven times and they now have an eight win in sight now. Although the league leaders would have a challenging time in their race to lifting the trophy, as they still have two difficult games ahead of them.
After their disastrous campaign the previous season, Chelsea looks ready to make a comeback with both Premier League title and FA Cup not far off.
