Mauricio Pochettino may have only made the headlines last summer, but it looks as though the Argentine manager would be Paris Saint-Germain preferred choice in replacing Unai Emery that could turn bad for Tottenham Hotspur.
If the latest reports making the rounds are anything to go by, Pochettino could be heading for an early replacement at Parc des Princes, following a difficult season with the French giants.
If the Les Blues are to make a replacement in the managerial role, they’ll probably send a search party over to north London to try and hijack Mauricio Pochettino away from Spurs.
His departure from White Hart Lane would bring plenty of nail-biting in this summer if Emery is given the boot over in France.
That’s because he is the lone favourite to be Emery’s successor as PSG next permanent manager. And one would have to say it’d be a hard position for any top manager in world football to turn down such offer.
Having run away with the league last season (PSG finished 31 points ahead of their nearest league rivals, Lyon), the reigning champions are struggling to repeat such levels of dominance this time out and themselves one point behind league leaders Monaco.
However, what will hurt both the board and the fans more than anything else will have been PSG’s unimpressive display in their last 16 second-leg clash with Barcelona in the Champions League.
Despite the Les Blues away at Camp Nou with a 4-0 lead and scoring an away goal against Luis Enrique’s side, they still failed to qualify, and his side position has come under critical observation ever since.
It remains to be seen on what Spurs will do between now and the end of the season though.
The Spurs are still going strong in the Emirates FA Cup, and they’re challenging in the title race, at least mathematically. However, were things go horribly wrong, the Argentine boss may just feel he’s done enough he can for the north London outfit.
If that’s how it all end, and that scenario coincided with a decision of Emery’s future being made with PSG, then we could see Pochettino leading the French club out at Parc des Prince come the opening day of next season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also remains as second choice for Les Parisiens, having already worked in France with Monaco for seven years. And that’s a price he shares with current Lyon boss Bruno Genesio.
