Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus could be out for the rest of the season after getting injured in the match against Bournemouth. The teenage sensation was forced to pull off just 15 minutes into the 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Monday night.
The Brazilian kid appeared to have broken his fifth metatarsal in his right foot and could be out for up to three months. The 19-year-old has become an instant hit since joining his team mates at the Etihad stadium; he has scored three goals and provided one assist in five games for Man City.
City’s elevation to second in the Premier league table has coincided with the teenager’s involvement as they have now won four matches in a row. His injury news is a real setback for Pep Guardiola and City who are aiming to reignite their season and close the gap at the top of the league.
However, this has presented Sergio Aguero a chance to reclaim his starting place in the team. Gabriel has apparently pushed the Argentinean out of the first team as he was relegated to the bench in their last three matches, before replacing Gabriel when he got injured against Bournemouth.
Guardiola had preferred the combination of Gabriel, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling upfront since the Brazilian arrival and it has made many to wonder how Aguero could lose his place quickly to him.
However, it is back to plan A for the former Barcelona boss. With Aguero in the team City recorded 10 consecutive wins at the start of the season and how the two work together again may likely define the rest of City’s season.
