Bournemouth AFC have reportedly signed Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a reported deal worth in excess of £1m, according to Sky Sources.
The 18-year-old has represented England at U18 and U19 level and have registered his debut for the Blades after graduating from the league youth academy this season in the FA Cup. He started for the Blades in their 6-0 home victory against Leyton Orient back in November.
For majority of the season, Ramsdale has provided cover from the bench to Simon Moore at Bramall Lane, earlier in the window, he had been linked with a move to Everton but Eddi Howe’s Cherrie could get their man before Tuesday, January 31, 11pm deadline.
Blades manager Chris Wilder admits the Premier League club offer was too good to turn down. Ramsdale would be Bournemouth’s first signing of the January transfer window.
His move to the Vitality Stadium would be a blessing in disguise as he would learn from the experienced Artur Boruc and Adam Federici during his time with the Cherries.
Ramsdale who is just 18 also admit being caught between two stools moving to the league but once he spoke to Eddie, there was no issues in his mind.
According to Sky Sports, the Toffees have had a bid for the goalkeeper rejected by Sheffied prior to the hours of completing his move with Bournemouth.
Having failed on signing him, there focus have been placed somewhere else as they made a big splash by signing Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United earlier this month, but have added two young talents to their rank in the likes of Ademola Lookman and Anton Donkor.
Sheffield United’s academy has produced the likes of Kyle Naughton, Kyle Walker and Stephen Quinn over the years, and with Ramsdale looking to follow in their footsteps, a move to the Premier League could be on the cards – whether it’s now or in the near future.
