The Premier League appears to be the main focus of the Chinese Super league in acquiring players to build up their league to the standard of that of UEFA. Players plying their trade in England are being enticed with offers too lucrative to reject to move to the Asian country.
Chelsea midfielder Oscar was signed by a Chinese club for £60 million while John Mikel Obi has also moved in that direction and another club from the same league has offered the Blues top scorer Diego Costa a whooping £576,000 per week contract, an amount which has somehow turned the head of the Spanish forward the other way.
And the latest to be linked with the Far East is Man United Ashley Young. Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng are the latest to table a serious offer, hoping to sign the former England international this January, as reported by The Sun.
Ashley Young has failed to command a regular place in Jose Mourinho starting team, starting just five games for Manchester United this season with only two of them coming in the Premier League. His future at the club looks bleak.
The 31-year-old has only 18 months left on his current contract and Shandong Luneng are reportedly ready to offer him £10 million per year which seems a good deal and a profit for United.
With that situation, there’s no point in keeping a valuable asset sitting on the bench or even out of match day squads altogether when there’s potential good offer on the table.
