Man United manager José Mourinho will be delighted with the results in their last four games and his sides’ performances could be signs of better improvements to come. The Reds have won their last four games and their summer signings are beginning to live up to expectations.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has rediscovered his scoring form, with 11 goals in ten games and 17 in total this season, Paul Pogba has been more influential in games and Henrikh Mkhitaryan has, since being rejuvenated, been impressive with two goals and two assists in four starts. He also came off the bench to score a wonderful backheeled goal.
And with the transfer window approaching we took at the major area United still need to strengthen.
United’s defence is not really coordinated and looks shaky at times. Chris Smalling has been plagued with injuries and Marcos Rojo is not far from being sent off at any given time due to his aggressiveness. There is no real leader in the defences.
The Old Trafford club has been linked with Benfica Viktor Lindelof but an increase in the transfer fee could put United off as the 22-year-old is close to signing a new contract that will increase the fee.
Before now, United attack has lacked a cutting edge. They struggled in front of goal which saw them drawing matches they should have won.
Despite Ibrahimovic scoring again, the left wing of the attack lacks consistency. Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial as well as Wayne Rooney have been rotated in that position. United will need to sign a winger fit enough to occupy that area to bolster their attack the more.
A centre-back and an attacking winger will make finishing in the top four more realistic for United.
