The transfer window reopens on January 1. Clubs are already targeting players they want to bring in while some players are also looking towards the potential clubs they can switch to. The title race in the Premier League is also getting hotter. That said we taken a look at the major areas Arsenal need to strengthen.

The Gunners suffered consecutive defeats to Everton and Man City, putting their title bid in jeopardy. They have lost ground in the title race, presently fourth on the table and nine points off leaders Chelsea and will now play catch up with their London rival.

They could lose Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at the end of the season as their contract issue drags on.

Sanchez has been spearheading their attack this season since his conversion to a more central role and despite scoring the winning goal against West Brom, Olivier Giroud has not really live up to expectations.

Though Danny Welbeck will soon return to full fitness after almost nine months lay off, the London club still need to add an option up front, especially one that can send fear down the spine of their opponents.

They have won just once against their top six rivals and they will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League in February.

Likewise, with a number of defenders presently injured- Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi, Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs – Arsenal need to sign a full back, just in case Nacho Montreal or Hector Bellerin get injured.

If they don’t want to their season to end in February, a striker and a left back should be top priority on Arsene Wenger transfer list. No need for talking about the criticism Wenger will receive as he has already made it known that he is immune to such.
