German midfielder Mesut Ozil has reportedly contacted former club and could be set for a shock return to Real Madrid this summer. The World Cup winner is yet to sign a new contract at Arsenal and has only 18 months left on his current contract.
There were reports of the Arsenal hierarchy planning to make him the highest paid players at the club with a whopping £200,000 per week salary but he is demanding for around £250,000.
He has been linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Man United but recent reports claimed he could return to the Santiago Bernabeu. It is reported in the Spanish media that Real ‘s President Florentino Perez who is a big admirer of the attacker would try to lure him back to the club.
The playmaker seems not to be contented with happening at Arsenal. Though he has won the FA Cup twice and the Community, he is not happy with their lack of Premier League and Champions League triumphs.
Since he left Madrid, the Spanish giant has gone ahead to win two Champion League cups and the Club World Cup.
The former Weder Bremen player moved to the Emirates in a club record £42.5 million deal from Madrid in 2013 and after a difficult first two seasons at the club he has become one of the most important player in Arsene Wenger’s team.
He has the highest assists in the league last season and he has also been impressive in this campaign. He had in the past denied been umhappy at the Emirates but an exit this summer may be inenvitable. The Gunners may want to cash in on him instead of losing for free.
But it is not certain Wenger would want to lose one of his prized assets.
