Jose Mourinho’s Sunday league away game game against Swansea will be a make or mar game for the Portuguese who has seen his stock plummet of recent having lost to Fenerbahce away in the Europa League.
Against relegation threatened Swansea who have gained only five points in ten games so far this season. Swansea’s poor form is also the reason Francesco Guidolin was sacked last month with Bob Bradley becoming the first American to manage in the Premier League. Bradley on his win hasn’t faired better having gained just one point in three games after playing the likes of Stoke City and Arsenal.
Mourinho is expected to start with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation on Sunday evening even though Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia are long term absentees. Ander Herrera is suspended after seeing red against Burnley last week earning him a one match suspension. Paul Pogba is also a doubt having limped off in United’s 2-1 loss away at Istanbul against Fenerbahce on Thursday. Chris Smalling on his part will be missing having not played in United’s last two games.
However, one good news for United is the return of Phil Jones to first team football after missing for nearly a year. The Englishman was named In the squad that played Fenerbahce making it just a matter of time before he sees game time. On the other hand, Bastian Schweinsteiger has also returned to first-team training for the first time under Jose Mourinho having been relegated to the reserves since the Portuguese appointment in the summer.
Jose Mourinho is expected to start David De Gea in goal as Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo , Daley Blind and Darmian all starting in defence. In the centre of the park, Michael Carrick and Fellaini will play in the centre of the park leaving out Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford playing high in attack while Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to play as the centre-forward even though he has missed goal scoring chances of late.
Though on paper, it looks a straight forward game for Jose Mourinho considering Swansea have only won once this season which is in the opening game against newly promoted Burnley, Manchester United on their part are not fairing better but are expected to win due to their superior quality .
