Champions League Match Ball

Liverpool will be looking to try and continue to progress in the UEFA Champions League this season, although they have not been given the easiest of Round of 16 fixtures to try and navigate.

The Reds managed to win each of their six Group Stage games in the earlier phase of the elite club competition when they were able to defeat each of Atletico Madrid, FC Porto and AC Milan twice.

Indeed, some would have perhaps suggested the way in which they were able to dominate that particular stage of the competition is something that would highlight Jurgen Klopp’s side’s credentials as a potential UEFA Champions League contender.

Liverpool will need to keep that form going, though, if they are to continue to progress in the competition as they will now look to face the blue side of Milan after having defeated the red half twice already.

The Reds will return to the San Siro on Wednesday 16 February for the first leg where they will meet Inter Milan, although it would seem many are expecting Klopp’s side to be able to navigate that encounter with some ease.

According to Betway Sportsbook, who have provided punters with a number of special bonus promotions, as well as boosts that can be used, Liverpool have been priced as 11/10 favourites to overcome the challenge of the Serie A side.

Indeed, those that have been watching the Premier League side recently will perhaps find that those odds are rather easy to understand, as the Reds have been rather dominant in recent seasons.

The Anfield outfit, who already have a League Cup final to look forward to at the end of the month against Chelsea, appears to have managed to cope well without the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah at the Africa Cup of Nations, as they continue to keep the charge with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Of course, the game against Milan comes at a timely moment as the two attackers should be back from the major international tournament – with one a winner and one a runner-up – but both will have the common goal of ensuring that Liverpool are European champions this season.

Inter, though, are not a prospect to overlook, though, as they sit at the top of the Serie A ladder, despite Simeone Inzaghi’s men suffering a late 2-1 defeat in the Derby della Madonnina to AC Milan after Olivier Giroud netted a 3-minute brace.

Nonetheless, we should have an incredible UEFA Champions League contest on our hands and one that is well worth watching!
