Paul Pogba’s latest statement suggests that he could leave Manchester United. This statement comes at a time when rumors are spreading fast about his Barcelona move. Manchester United are adamant that their £89m midfielder will not be sold to any club. However, Pogba’s latest statement cast doubt over his future at Manchester United.
Answering a question, the recent World Cup winner said:
“My future is currently in Manchester, I still have a contract, I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.”
Pogba also did little to conceal his frosty relationship with the Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho and when asked whether he and Mourinho had a tense relationship with each other, Pogba first nodded and then said:
” We have a pure coach-player relationship, that’s right.”
Just last month, Pogba posted something very intriguing on his Instagram account. He said that he would be punished if he expressed his true feelings.
The relationship between the United manager and Pogba soured about a year ago when he suffered a hamstring injury in a Champions League match against Basel. Mourinho, according to reports, blamed Pogba for ignoring the medical advice and hiring a personal trainer to address the problem.
Their relationship further deteriorated when both engaged in a heated row on the touchline as the Red Devils were thrashed 2-0 by Tottenham in January. He was substituted after the argument by Mourinho. Also, Pogba was later featured as a substitute by Mourinho in the Huddersfield match.
In the summer transfer window, it’s reported that Barcelona came with an offer to sign Pogba, but this was rejected by Man United as they’re not looking to sell their prized assets despite his frosty relationship with Mourinho.
However, it’s only with time until whether or not Pogba stay or leave Old Trafford with Barcelona striker Luis Suarez coming out in public saying the Frenchman would be highly welcomes at Camp Nou. The former Liverpool striker also went on adding that the France World Cup winner should be challenging for more trophies which he would be guaranteed of at Barcelona.
Suarez said:
“Pogba is an elite player who has won everything and we always want to have the best.
“He is a player that has a lot of quality and who is one of the key players at United, and I think he would like to compete for more than he is competing for now.
“But that’s how it is, he does not belong to Barcelona but he will always be welcome.”
Nothing is confirmed yet about the uncertainties surrounding his future at Old Trafford, but this statement from Pogba indicates that he has his heart set on leaving Man United which cannot be ruled out.
