According to The S*n, Arsenal are interested in Sevilla midfielder Seven N’Zonzi, with new boss Unai Emery keen to renew acquaintances with the 29-year-old he previously managed.

The Gunners could be short in the engine room if they lose Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey this summer but signing N’Zonzi would soften the blow and improve the squad. He’s a combative player and composed in possession – two qualities Arsenal need to strengthen their midfield for a tilt at a top-four finish.

N’Zonzi joined Sevilla from Stoke City in 2015 and has gone on to make 136 appearances in all competitions. The French international has won a Europa League crown with the Spaniards and is regarded as one of the best midfielders in La Liga.

Despite this, N’Zonzi’s future at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium is in doubt and Arsenal are looking to capitalise. The midfielder played under Emery in 2015/16, making 46 appearances, and could be open to seeing his old boss again.

Arsenal could be losing Jack Wilshere in the coming weeks, with the playmaker out of contract this summer and having yet to agree to an extension. Aaron Ramsey could join him, as the Welshman is also delaying agreeing a new deal and would be sold by Arsenal, rather than them risk losing him for nothing in 12 months.
